Scarlett Johansson Thinks Her Body is Just ‘Okay’
She’s her own worst critic! Scarlett Johansson’s curvy-in-all-the-right-places figure is the envy of women all over the world, but she has her hang-ups just like anyone else. During Sunday’s broadcast of Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014, the Her actress, 30, said she doesn’t think there’s anything special about her body.
“It’s an okay body,” she told Walters, who included Johansson on the list because of her very eventful year as a new mom, wife, and blockbuster star. “I wouldn’t say it’s particularly remarkable, though. I don’t like my thighs, my midsection.”
Asked how she feels about being a sex symbol, the smoky-voiced Lucy actress replied, “I never put on a sexy face, so I don’t know what it means to act seductively.”
That’s not entirely true. Johansson has played many a seductress on screen, luring the likes of Bradley Cooper, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Joaquin Phoenix, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Javier Bardem.
“You have to be totally without judgment,” she said of filming “realistic” sex scenes. “It’s sort of liberating. It’s challenging, but you’ve just got to stay in the moment.”
Staying in the moment is something she tries to do in her personal life, as well. The star, who was married to Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011 and also dated actor Sean Penn after their split, recently welcomed her first child, daughter Rose Dorothy, with new husband Romain Dauriac — and she couldn’t be happier.
“It’s wonderful and exhausting,” Johansson gushed of motherhood. “The love is just unbelievable. It’s very overwhelming. I’m nursing and I love it. It’s the best way to get back in shape.”
Of her romance with French journalist Dauriac, whom she wed secretly in Philipsburg, Mont., on Oct. 1, she added: “I think being in a committed relationship takes work. It’s very easy to leave a situation when it gets uncomfortable. It’s challenging. But when it works it’s really worth it.”
